This is just to let you know about the upcoming change. It shouldn’t negatively affect any existing users.
Charm++ license up till now, speaking informally, was “freely available in source code form for non-profit purposes”, and a separate one from Charmworks for commercial/for-profit purposes.
We intend to release it fully open source even for commercial use. Charmworks will still support it and do contract work for specific additional feature development or support. PPL and other academic collaborators and application developers will continue to maintain Charm++ actively as before.
Details to follow (e.g. exact license type etc.). Feel free to communicate with me with any questions.
Best wishes,
-Sanjay
