General talk about software patterns

Hi Christophe,

Thanks for yours and everyone else's replies, they
have been very helpful and encouraging.

Interestingly enough, I have been tossing around what
you have stated in your first answer - this seems to
really be an under-represented subject; it would
really be useful to a lot of people to understand how
to apply design patterns to embedded systems. 
Especially since (in my opinion and experience) a lot
of people designing and writing software for real-time
systems come from an electrical engineering background
(like me) and were not heavily trained in computer
science concepts.  They also tend to be more
classically trained (read: structural software) and do
not have a strong background in OOP.

I'll take a look at the book you mentioned.
